  • Abstract
One of the promising ways to heat plasma in the open solenoidal systems as GOL-3 device, is to use relativistic electron beams with a ribbon cross section. These beams should be generated in the foilless ribbon diodes which can produce at 1 MV voltage the electron current about 50-100 kA with pulse duration at least 10μs2. The electron beam generated in this diode may have a small angular spread at the moderate (0.5-1. OT) magnetic field and this fact is very important for beam plasma interaction. In addition the ribbon electron beams may be switched into the same magnetic flux tube by the reconnection of the guiding magnetic field lines that opens the way of the further increase of the beam energy content. According to these motivations U-2 generator of the ribbon REB is constructed at our Institute as E-beam injector of GOL-3 device.
