MyBI: A Business Intelligence application development framework for Malaysian public sector

The public sector faces great challenges in strengthening the public services. Therefore, public servants need more accurate and up-to-date information that can be accessed at any time, and able to reach internal and external information for effective and efficient decision making. Business Intelligence (BI) provides decision makers with valuable knowledge to meet their needs. However, studies related to BI are still lacking, particularly in the Malaysian public sector. This paper introduces a framework for BI application development for the Malaysian public sector (MyBI). This framework requires two main processes for an organization to produce a successful BI application, in terms of the development and implementation, consist of the assessment of organizational readiness for BI and BI application development. To test and validate the proposed framework, a web-based BI application prototype is developed using open source software and has been tested using Computer System Usability Questionnaires (CSUQ) to measure the users´ satisfaction and usability.
