Abstract
The use of ultra high speed ac drives has started in the last years e.g. in waste energy recovery systems. In these drives the ratio of the carrier frequency to fundamental one can be lower than 10 - 12. In this case the dc components and subharmonics of carrier-based PWM can have considerable negative effect on the quality of the drive. It is observed that the dc components occur only in case of naturally sampled PWM and they are absent in case of regular PWMs. The expressions for computation of dc voltage and subharmonics of naturally sampled sinusoidal PWM are given and it is observed that in case of space vector modulation the dc components´ value is higher than in case of sinusoidal PWM. The theoretical results are confirmed by experiments.
