Abstract
This paper presents the methodology and experimental results of the independent position control of two three-phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) fed by a five-leg inverter (5LI) with space vector modulation (SVM). We know that 5LI with SVM can drive two Induction Motors (IMs) independently in the past studies. And SVM can reduce the switching count rather than PWM control in the case of two IMs. We choose the PMSMs because many PMSMs are used in industrial field recently. PMSM has the features of saving-weight and high-efficiency compared with DC motor and IM. The experimental results are verified for the independent position control of two PMSMs fed by a 5LI with SVM in vector control.
