  • Abstract
This paper proposes a mechanical sensorless drive system for an ultra-high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motor based on direct torque control (DTC). This DTC-based drive system has several advantages, including a sensorless drive, a simple structure, and fast torque control. In addition, the rotor speed can be estimated from the estimated flux position obtained by the DTC system. These are important advantages for high-speed drives since they enable short processing times and stable operation. In this study, the tested motor has a rated speed of 100,000 min-1 and a rated power of 800 W. Experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed system.
