  • Abstract
    A rotor position estimation method for switched reluctance motor used in electric vehicle (EV) has been studied. If the phase inductance of 3-pahse SRM is assumed to be a sine wave, the space vector of the phase inductance can be defined, and the rotor position can be estimated from the phase angle of this space vector. In low speed region, the rotor position can be obtained by applying the DC bus voltage to unexcited phases over a short time. As the speed increases, the resolution of the position estimation becomes worse. Therefore, the rotor position estimation method of SRM in high speed region is proposed in this paper. Experimental results show that the position estimation method proposed is useful for SRM used in EV.
