Abstract
This paper presents a new topology of parallel hybrid excitation brushless dc machine (PHE-BLDCM). Configuration and operational principles of the proposed PHE-BLDCM are introduced. The proposed PHE-BLDCM which can be used as the generator for aero-power system combines the merits of the permanent magnet synchronous machine and the doubly salient electro-magnet machine. The performances of the two sections are studied by 2D-FEA respectively to achieve better combination. 3D-FEA model of the proposed PHE-BLDCM is found to investigate the wide excitation regulation range. Field-circuit coupled analysis successfully performed demonstrates the feasibility of the new topology and the exactness of the analysis.
