Abstract :
This paper proposes a biosensor platform based on vertically aligned carbon nanofibers (VACNFs) for selective and sensitive detection of low levels of glucose to monitor the risks of hypoglycemia. Two enzymes, horseradish peroxidase and glucose oxidase, are co-immobilized on the nanofiber electrodes to make an electrochemical amperometric bienzymatic glucose biosensor. Experimental results indicate that the biosensor can detect glucose at the hypoglycemia levels (below 3.88 mM or 70 mg/dL).
