Abstract
Vehicle tracking systems typically use GPS-based positioning devices to locate current locations of vehicles. Alternatively, cellular probe data, to which base station a mobile phone is connected, are considered for execution of the same functionality. So far, cellular positioning can locate subjects in a wide area. The uncertainty of connection data makes the problem of locating vehicles at a specific position very challenging. Our work aims to improve the performance of locating a vehicle at its current location using cellular data. Patterns of cell coverage and handovers are constructed to narrow scopes of positioning boundary. Various techniques to locate point-of-handover are extensively reported.
