Abstract :
The use of ICT has tremendously increased due to the explosive growth of the Internet and the reducing cost of the hardware. However, in recent years the use of ICT has also evolved as a threat to the environment. Green ICT has been one of the most promising technologies to tackle environmental issues. According to the 10th Malaysian Plan, the government has placed great importance on education; therefore, the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) play an important role to educate the students on the Green ICT practices. This research highlights the Green ICT practices in terms of Power Management, use of E-mail, use of E-Learning tool, and the use of Green search engine among tertiary students in a private HEI. Results of the research demonstrated that students at large practice Green ICT. Their main Green ICT practices are via E-mail, E-learning tool and Green search engine (Google). Nevertheless, the findings also suggest that Power Management approach is not popular among tertiary students. Some implications of the findings are discussed in this paper.
