Preface

ISDEA 2013 is an annual forum dedicated to the emerging and challenging topics in intelligence systems design and engineering applications. ISDEA 2013 received 750 submissions from 6 countries and regions. All papers went through a rigorous peer review procedure and each paper received at least two reviews. Based on the reviews, about 380 high quality papers were accepted and included in this Proceedings. Intelligent systems is playing an increasingly important role in the rapid development of global industries and economies. As intelligent systems designs and applications are improved, we can also begin to promote levels of automation. ISDEA 2013 will bring together an international community of researchers and practitioners in the fields of intelligent system design and engineering applications in order to discuss the latest advancements of the discipline, shape its future directions, and promote its diffusion among the scientific community at large. ISDEA 2013 was sponsored by Hunan University of Technology, St. John´s University, Hunan Institute of Humanities Science and Technology, Department of Electronics Science and Technology, National University of Defense Technology, and was held in Hong Kong, China, January 16-18, 2013.
