Abstract
A novel operating scheme for Incremental Delta-Sigma ADCs is presented which increases the achievable resolution of such an ADC by dynamic conversion length adaption for each individual conversion. Compared to other approaches, no increase of the conversion length or of the modulator order is necessary. Depending on the order and the NTF of the modulator, the resolution can be improved by up to 20%. Compared to other approaches, adaption of the conversion length cause much less additional circuitry and power consumption.
