Abstract
The Langevin ultrasonic transducer is widely used in many high-power ultrasonic applications. The output power of a Langevin ultrasonic transducer is limited by many factors, and the electrical limit is one of most important factors. In this paper, the reason which restricts the improvement of the electrical limit is briefly analyzed for a typical Langevin ultrasonic transducer. In order to improve the transducer´s electrical limit, a method, by adjusting the piezoceramic rings´ thicknesses according to their positions in the transducer, is put forward. A design example is performed by using a FEM software, and the simulation results demonstrate the validity of the theoretical analysis and the method.
