When you are racing a Formula One powerboat you don´t have that security. It´s a six-metre catamaran that runs on a cushion of air. To control the boat the driver has buttons on the steering wheel and the floor. These control hydraulic rams that move the outboard engine at the back of the boat in and out as well as up and down. The more you move the engine out the more air is trapped inside the tunnel and the faster you accelerate.
