Abstract
In this paper, constrained optimization of a six element Yagi-Uda antenna is performed using Differential Evolution optimization algorithm. The optimization concentrates on maximizing the directiviety of the antenna by finding the optimum values of the lengths and the positions of the antenna elements. Constraints on maximum allowed antenna length and minimum satisfactory value of F/B ratio are embedded within the optimization procedure. Numerical analysis of the antenna is performed by calculating the currents in the elements using mutual impedance matrix. The radiation pattern of the optimized antenna is numerically calculated and verified using experimental data.
