Abstract :
A new single-stage ac-dc converter with an interleaved input section is proposed in this paper. The converter can perform input power factor correction with reduced input current harmonic content due to its interleaved input section. The proposed rectifier can also produce input currents that do not have deadband regions and an output current that is continuous for all load conditions. In this paper, the operation of the new converter is explained, its steady-state characteristics are determined by analysis, and these characteristics are used to develop a procedure for the design of the converter. The operation of the proposed interleaved converter is confirmed with experimental results obtained from a prototypet.
