Abstract
This paper presents a very simple open loop control scheme for a current-driven Full-Bridge DC/DC converter used in automotive applications. DC current sensors impose a lot of difficulties and cost to the power conditioning system. In this paper, a novel control approach is proposed, which can eliminate the need for the output current sensor. The particular structure of the current-driven full-bridge DC/DC converter provides the flexibility to accurately estimate the output current. This flexibility is employed to provide a robust and cost effective solution for electric vehicles. The proposed approach has been examined on a 3KW industrial prototype. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme is able to tightly control the charging power of the DC/DC converter.
