  • Abstract
    This paper gives an overview of electric systems in common use, covering traction supply systems and traction equipment. The paper goes over the fundamentals of train performance, and described how these principles can be used to create models to simulate railway system performance. The paper gives an overview of applications of simulation in railway system design and development.
