Abstract
Supported by the publicly available specification, BSI:PAS55, the Dutch supplement NTA8120 and the forthcoming ISO55000/1/2 standards, the discipline of Asset Management is maturing and widely being adopted worldwide by asset intensive businesses. Likewise, at Stedin, a Dutch electricity and gas network operator, the Asset Management approach has been adopted in 2008 and is evolving since. This approach aims to continuously optimize the management of assets throughout their lifecycle in order to deliver value and achieve the organisation´s purposes. Within the scope of Asset Management, effective and efficient maintenance and inspection is essential to ensure, not only better operations and maintenance decision-making, but also the asset performance requirements. In this contribution, an organisation-wide maintenance and inspection improvement plan for electricity and gas distribution networks is described , which has been initiated at Stedin. Moreover, this contribution demonstrates how corporate maintenance objectives are linked to, and interact with other organisation factors.
