Abstract
In wireless communication a Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) plays an important role. There are various routing protocols developed for communication in a MANET. Owing to the basic characteristics of MANETs, designing an efficient and secure routing protocol is a daunting task. Ad hoc On Demand Distance Vector Routing Protocol (AODV) is one of the widely researched on-demand routing protocol for use in MANETs. But it is highly vulnerable to attacks as it doesn´t have any security mechanism. In this paper, we study, security Issues, malicious node activity in AODV under different scenarios, network size, traffic load, and mobility which affect packet delivery ratio, reliability, throughput and end to end delay in MANETs to study the performance of this routing protocol.
