Abstract
This paper presents the current mode control applied to active clamp forward-flyback converter with secondary and primary side current sensing. This converter employs an active clamp circuit to reset the transformer core and center tapped rectifier at the secondary side for full wave rectification. The state space averaging technique is used to derive the different transfer function to establish the closed loop performance of the converter. An extensive power stage dynamic has been explained with six stage operation of the converter. The simulation results shows that employing current mode control with secondary side current sensing gives better loop response and hence transient response as compared to primary side current sensing hence provide full benefit of peak current mode control.
