  • Abstract
This paper presents the numerical analysis of elliptical fin circumscribing circular tube for various shape factor 0.13, 0.25, 0.39, 0.65 are considered. The EAF are fed with constant heat inputs under free convection. The result shows that physical representation of the temperature distribution and isotherms of the EAF for shape factors 0.13, 0.25, 0.39, and 0.65. The analysis shows that the increase in surface area along major axis gradually reduces the surface temperature in that direction. The result predicts that EAF can be used in space restricted places instead of circular fins by increasing the surface area along major axis. This will reduce the cost, space and time for analysis by experimenting.
