Abstract
A number of published works deals with governor tuning for speed control of hydro power plants. This paper investigates genetic algorithms as a means of finding optimum solution over a governor parameter. In actual, the genetic algorithm is applied to optimum tuning of a governor parameter for a hydro power plant. There is different type of governor controllers used in hydro power plant. Temporary droop governor controller was commonly used in hydro power plant. After illustration of temporary droop governor controller this paper is dedicated to introducing a genetic algorithm for giving an optimized value of governor parameter. Furthermore, the genetic algorithm gives the result of governor parameter for different load changes in hydro power plant.
