Abstract :
In summary, we envision that the future mobile communication network will be an Ultra Dense, Diverse Access Technologies Converged, Intelligent Network infrastructure complemented by a Device-to-Device network. An ultra-dense radio network with cells of many different sizes is the most effective way of increasing system capacity and ubiquitously covers the service area. Diverse access technology convergence ensures that both licensed and unlicensed spectra are seamlessly and efficiently integrated without users´ awareness. Device to device communication can ease the core network congestion or complement the traditional infrastructure based network in scenarios where telecom infrastructure may not be available. The staggering number of bits that will travel through this visionary network and the integrated circuits that help create it promise abundance of innovations and business opportunities for the semiconductor industry in many years to come.
