Abstract :
An electrically small bulk acoustic wave true time delay is proposed for use in a coherent, passive, and transistorless RFID tag operating around 2.45 GHz. The active area of the time delay component is just 100×100 microns, and a delay of about 10 ns is achieved. Experimentally, maximum power transfer was obtained near 1.4 GHz. A link budget for the realized device is presented, and RCS modulation is quantified by measurements conducted in an indoor anechoic range.
