  • Abstract
    ▪ Realistic methods can be employed to distinguish primary aircraft from other traffic and various sources of reflection ▪ A large number of primary aircraft fly in eastern North Dakota and the inclusion of these flights on the cockpit display could further enhance situational awareness ▪ ADS-B and primary aircraft occasionally fly within close proximity to each other and this can be expected to occur at a rate of approximately once every 200 to 300 flights based on the eight months of data analyzed from eastern North Dakota ▪ The primary radar performance from an ARSR-4 is adequate to support pTIS-B and the corresponding ability to accurately represent the primary aircraft´s positional accuracy by a radar tracker is achievable ▪ Capability to broadcast pTIS-B messages was demonstrated in a closed-circuit lab environment.
