Abstract
Due to its nature the recurrent surge oscillography (RSO) is a sensitive tool to identify local imperfections in large generator rotor windings. Evaluating the RSO results could lead to misinterpretation caused by the fact that different kinds of imperfections may result in a similar time-domain reflectometry (TDR). The theoretical model, presented in this paper has the aim to evaluate the sensitivity of RSO depending on the type of imperfection considering its location as well as the character of RSO-signal, amplitude and frequency content.
