Abstract :
The present work aims to present the method of factor analysis applied to pre-processing of data mining process. The factor analysis is applied to two pattern recognition and classification´s databases of power engineering´s problems. This pre-processing analyzes the input variables, thus having a better understanding of the importance of each variable as a input for pattern recognition and classification´s methods. The pattern recognition and classification´s methods were applied to the data with and without the application of factor analysis, thus comparing the real rate of right classification.
