Abstract
DTN is an intermittently connected wireless ad hoc network with long and variable delay caused by the traditional store-carry-forward message dissemination over disconnected clusters. To reduce the end-to-end delay and increase reliability, this work proposes a Social-Based Broadcasting message dissemination protocol which incorporates long range communication with broadcasting. To increase reliability, we propose a rebroadcast node selection mechanism to increase the number of received nodes. To evaluate the performance of our proposed method, we conduct extensive simulation to investigate message dissemination efficiency, including penetration rate and reachability, of the proposed method and the greedy epidemic routing method in a large mobile network. The extensive simulation results demonstrate that our proposed method is practical, scalable and cost-effective for message dissemination in DTNs.
