Abstract
Diabetic retinopathy is damage to the retina of human eye which is caused by the complication of increase in blood glucose level which can eventually leads to blindness. The longer the patient has diabetes the higher the chance of developing diabetic retinopathy. DR is the deterioration of retinal blood vessel. Microaneurysm is one of the earliest symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy. Microaneurysms occur as isolated dark red spots in retina due to the swelling of capillaries and weaking of blood vessels. The number of microaneurysms is used to indicate the severity of the disease. Earlier microaneurysms detection can reduce the incidence of blindness. Here the proposal is about an automated system for diabetic retinopathy detection in color fundus images obtained by fundus camera.
