Abstract :
Control of a system object or process requires knowledge on properties of the controlled technologies/objects, as well as knowledge of the control patterns, which means detailed knowledge of the impacts caused by the controlling intervention made in the process. It is obvious that precise and complete control has to follow the precise and complete information on the object´s condition, mainly the information substantial for the control. This is related to such complex process as is the rock drilling. One of the possibilities for characterization of the acoustic signal formed during the process of rock drilling is to analyze the measured spectrum of the acoustic signal using the concept of superposition. Superposition evaluates the acoustic signal measured in no-load run of the drilling rig as a noise and thence the searched information on rock drilling process is contained in the difference of the acoustic pressures in the individual bands. Two main variables characterizing the drilling process have to be determined, the specific drilling energy and the working ability of the drilling tool, which both enable to evaluate the measured equivalent levels if acoustic pressure in different regimes of rock drilling of various rock types.
