Abstract
The longitudinal and transverse acoustic wave velocities in PbFexB1-xO3 (B = Ta, Nb, W) ceramics have been measured by the ultrasonic pulse-echo technique at a frequency of 10 MHz in a wide temperature range from 4.2 K to 500 K. Temperature dependences of the longitudinal and transverse elastic constants were obtained. The softening of the elastic coefficients at phase transitions is discussed within the framework of the phenomenological theory taking into account electrostrictive and magnetostrictive couplings.
