  • Abstract
Land mine detection systems are used for the detection of buried landmines during war time and for humanitarian demining purpose. Several innovative technological solutions are being developed to significantly accelerate demining and decrease costs. Acousto-ultrasonic Land Mine Sensing System (ALSS), developed by CDAC , detects and discriminates artificial objects, such as land mines buried in the ground. We designed, developed and implemented an 120-channel, 3.5 meter wide Ultrasonic Doppler Vibrometer to scan the ground for ALSS. The main features of UDV developed by us are ground scan capability of 10 square feet per second, vehicle mountable, Real time continuous resonance imaging , automatic height adjustment to clear the ground undulations, 120 channel TDMA multi-channel buffered serial bus, In built health monitoring etc. This paper explains the architecture design , development and field trial results of the Ultrasonic Doppler Vibrometer array used in Acousto-ultrasonic Land Mine Sensing System realized at CDAC, Thiruvananthapuram.
