Abstract :
The motor overvoltage in inverter driven induction motors is one of the most difficult current technical problem in variable speed system. The conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) in inverter motor system is related to the inverter load which is the induction motor and cable. The electric parameters of the motor cable cause a series resonance phenomenon in the motor cable circuit which is a key reason for the appearance of the motor overvoltage. Obtained results illustrate the behavior of the investigated induction motor and motor cable at high frequency and explain the influence of the electric parameters of the motor power cable and induction motor on the overvoltage phenomenon that appears at the motor terminals.
