Abstract
This paper presents a direct approach used to calculate the distribution system and harmonic load flow solutions. There are two matrices used in the distribution load flow solution which are the BIBC matrix comprising of bus injection and branch current relationship matrix and; the BCBV matrix consisting of branch current and bus voltage relationship matrix. Both of the matrices were derived to become a new formula that used for solving the harmonic load flow solution of a distribution system. Due to its special techniques used in the proposed method, therefore the direct approach does not require to build the formation of Jacobian matrix or admittance matrix and LU which usually used in the conventional load flow methods. The robustness of a direct approach for solving the distribution system and harmonic load flow solutions was demonstrated on a 34-bus distribution system. The results have shown its effectiveness to perform the two load flow solutions for a long distance distribution system with large number of branches and nodes.
