Abstract
As a developing country which has big number of increasing population and growing economy, Bangladesh has to deal with the increasing demand of electricity. With the world´s increasing trend of utilization of wind energy and the reduced costs of renewable energy technology and improved efficiency and reliability, wind energy can be good alternative solution to Bangladesh´s dependency on natural gas which gets more expensive in the future. This paper exposes wind energy potential in Bangladesh and describing the necessary steps to develop wind energy in Bangladesh using other countries´ experience in wind sector. Supportive policies and regulations can be applied to make the government, private sector, and foreign investors work together to develop wind energy in Bangladesh.
