  • Abstract
This contribution presents an overview of the current funding of microwave and high frequency engineering within the large research programs administered by the European Union (EU). A major transition occurs in 2013 as the long-running Seventh Framework Program (FP7) winds down and the new Horizon 2020 Program begins to get underway. A selection of current or recently-completed FP7 projects will be highlighted, ranging from basic underpinning technology to major application-focussed projects such as in the automotive sector which is of great strategic importance to Europe. Opportunities for non-EU partners to be involved in such projects have greatly increased in recent years, and these possibilities will also be briefly addressed.
