Abstract
In this paper, we present a method of using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to optimize the element spacings and lengths of mutually coupled Linear Array Antenna (LAA) to have maximum Directivity (D) and minimum Half Power Beam Width (HPBW). Two different design structures of LAA are considered comprising of six and fifteen element dipoles. Simulation and result verification of the design array are done by using MATLAB™ and MININEC respectively. To evaluate performance of the designed antenna a result comparison is made between our obtained results and those of different structures of array antennas having different number of elements as found from previously published results.
