Abstract :
This paper is focused on the development and investigation of power supply system for an electric heater furnace with silicon carbide heaters. The goal is to present a new solution based on a microcontroller embedded system with power electronic converters. By using the proposed system are solved some of the problems, frequently occurring when low frequency power transformer is used - uneven distribution of the temperature inside the furnace and shorter life of the heating elements. Additional features like direct readout of the supplied voltage, current and power, set and actual temperature, computer interface and others can be easily realized.
