Foreword by the Editor [EM Programmer´s Notebook]

Although the theory underlying waveguide array design is a mature field, actually designing such an array remains a formidable task. It requires the integration of a number of different electromagnetic-analysis methods, combined with mechanical constraints. In this month´s contribution, the authors describe an integrated design environment that has permitted them to design prototypes far faster than in the past. They illustrate the application of their tool chain to a design that has also been built. This has permitted them to validate their results against measurements of the prototype.
