  • Abstract
We propose a novel approach employing nonlinear optical circuits that supports a wide range of all-optical behaviors based on the concept of customized nested time-step response. Theses circuits would enable realizing several optical processing functions such as optical buffering, implementation of all-optical comparators, in addition to advanced processing capabilities such as generation of chaotic optical signals. The first proof-of-concept experimental results for the new approach are presented in which optical chaotic signals have been successfully generated. Moreover to realize a high-speed optical set-reset flip-flop buffer, we propose a new optical circuit with the new approach.
