Abstract
An all-optical SR latching circuit is experimentally demonstrated using Fabry-Perot laser diode. The SR latch is based on the bi-stability and injection-locking properties of FP-LD. The latching circuit provides simultaneous inverted and non-inverted outputs for both the set and the reset conditions. The set and reset pulses were generated by external modulators at 3.240 Gbit/s. Very low input powers were required for the latching function. The input powers for the set and reset signals were -17 dBm and -7 dBm, respectively. The on-off switching operation of the output was measured with a rising/falling time of about 90 ps.
