Abstract
A 12×14 parallel optical interconnect system is described with the highest reported aggregate bandwidth and density. The device is based on direct assembly of large optoelectronic III-V chips on CMOS and coupling to a fiber matrix. This interconnect allows realization of a high capacity optical backplane for various communication and computation applications.
