Abstract
Garment production standards are essential to successfully designing and sizing clothing for garment production. Numerous approaches utilize approximate range of the girth difference to determine body types for developing garment production standards, but these body types could not be accurately classified. Moreover, few studies have applied the improvement girth difference model to body typing for the garment industry. Accordingly, this study attempts to identify body types using the improvement girth difference model as obtained from anthropometric data for garment production standards development. The proposed approach can reflect fine distinctions between figures. Body types and their distributions will have precisely identify and use in developing garment production standards. Furthermore, new garment production standards forecast production numbers and the proportion of sizes to be produced, leading to accurate production planning and material control. Unnecessary inventory costs and production waste resulting from sizing mismatches between finished garments and consumers thus can be minimized.
