Abstract :
Because of using a fixed-time, present single-phase reclosure techniques on transmission lines have poor ability of detecting non-fault before reclosing. It is necessary to detect non-fault to avoid unsuccessful reclosing in arcing faults or permanent faults. Then it is essential to improve the effectiveness of the non-fault detection based on reliable data. Therefore, this paper discussed the amplitudes of the terminal-voltage and the current in the shunt reactor under different fault conditions in single-phase arcing faults and non-arc faults respectively. The results show that the current is more reliable than the voltage in most arcing faults and non-arc faults, so it is feasible to employ comprehensive criterion using voltage and current for increasing the accuracy of the non-fault detection.
