  • Abstract
Bicyclists on crowded roads are influenced by the surrounding street situation. If they could get such information, they might be able to choose a safer, more relaxing cycling route. In this paper, we propose a web application system that shares driving environment information. Our system uses both the cycling speed measured by a photoelectric sensor, and the rudder angle of the handlebars measured by a rotary encoder to estimate a road´s crowdedness. Through experimental cycling, we clarified the relationship among the sensing data and avoidance behaviors and derived a formula to measure the crowdedness of roads by multiple regression analysis.
