Abstract :
The level of E field coupling from externally mounted transmitting antennas through the windows of an aircraft is measured. The level of shading, or isolation, for antennas which are not line of site, both measured and analyzed, are compared. The GEMACS and FEKO programs are used to model two of the transmitters and the coupling to the inside of the aircraft. The internal ambient is compared to safety levels as well as the radiated susceptibility test levels to which the avionics and monitoring equipment has been tested.
