Abstract
The performance of digital subscriber lines (DSL) systems is closely related to crosstalk. This paper presents a novel distributed spectrum management algorithm named weighted power bit-loading (WPBL). Instead of selecting the tone that will require the minimum incremental power to load a bit [1], WPBL selects the tone that requires the minimum weighted summation of the incremental power and reference line power. Simulation results show the performance of WPBL is better than the distributed band preference (DBPSM) and is close to the optimal spectrum balancing (OSB).
