Abstract
Education technology for electronic hardware testing was combined in the form of an analog/mixed signal development kit with miniaturized testing instrumentation to explore oscillator and PLL designs, operating at audio frequencies. The hardware demonstrated second order effects, such as multiplier nonlinearities, that are sometimes neglected in a first pass design. 7 lock-in ranges for the PLL were observed. Circuit redesign to enable the analog kit to operate in both dual supply and single supply mode was demonstrated. Analog circuit design as needed for Software Defined Radios (SDR) was also explored.
