Abstract
Divide-by-3 injection-locked frequency dividers with a direct forcing of the synchronization signal are modeled and analyzed. The locking mechanism underlying their operation is investigated and analytical equations are derived to predict the locking range as a function of the circuit parameters. The derived results are in good agreement with simulation results obtained by using BSIM3 models of active devices in 0.13um technology.
